Commercial Banking Program
The Commercial Banking Program (CBP) at Mays Business School, a flagship internship program in the Department of Finance, is designed to equip students with the best practices for a career in commercial banking. Commercial Banking Program provides a rich developmental environment by combining formal learning, industry experience, and professional mentoring. This program is available in two options, BBA Finance Students can receive a Certificate in Commercial Banking or all majors can pursue the Master of Financial Management.

FINC 463/633* – Seminar in Commercial Banking ( major elective, 3 credit hours) Fall Only
Course objectives include learning about various careers in banking, understanding current banking practices, and managerial practices, and covering recent developments affecting banks such as regulatory changes and economic factors.
FINC 462/643 – Commercial Bank Management (major elective, 3 credit hours) Spring Only
Course objectives include an overview of the banking industry’s history in American history, understanding the different kinds of risks that banks manage, surveying the variety of financial services provided by banks, and covering recent developments affecting commercial banks.
FINC 464/634* – Commercial Credit Analysis (major elective, 3 credit hours) Spring only

MKTG 489/689 – Marketing Financial Products & Services (major elective, 3 credit hours) Spring Only

Prior to admission, all Commercial Banking Program (CBP) applicants will interview for potential internship placement with a Commercial Banking Program board member bank. Only the students who are selected for internships will be accepted into the program. The selection criteria is at sole discretion of Commercial Banking Program member banks.
